Girls Who Code

A nonprofit program that is dedicated to increasing the number of women working in the S.T.E.M field. The program allows for girls to see themselves in careers that they otherwise would not know about.

About The Program

Girls Who Code is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to close the gender gap in the S.T.E.M field. We want young female students to obtain the skills necessary for entering a S.T.E.M career. We desire to change the image of what a programmer looks like. Our after school club allows young girls to explore how fun coding can be in a relaxed and friendly environment.

What To Expect

Our female participants will learn all about each of the four fields of S.T.E.M with a primary focus on coding. Participants will work together in teams to complete various projects. Each project is designed to increase the critical thinking and teamwork skills of each youth. We will also educate them about the vast number of careers available. Our staff also welcomes the volunteer efforts of parents and members of the community to help facilitate weekly events.

Requirements To Join

To become a member of the Girls Who Code program, you must be an enrolled youth between the ages of 6 and 17 years old. Youth must also be members of the Youth Enrichment Center. Meetings occur once a week and attendance will be mandatory. If a member is unable to attend a meeting that week, they must provide staff with advance notice.
