RTS Wise Guy Male Mentoring

Wise Guys is an education curriculum program that focuses on male responsibility related to their health. The program educates young men about manhood and steers them into making positive decisions regarding sexual health.

About The Program

The Wise Guys program is a federally sponsored program that teaches young men about sex education. The program wishes to reach adolescent males and focus on populations with a great need to reduce the disparities between teen pregnancy and birth rates.

What To Expect

Participants in this program will learn about crafting healthy decisions about sex and masculinity. We will teach young men about preventative measures they can take to reduce teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and dating violence. Teaching will also include reproductive anatomy, pregnancy, and STI prevention. Our staff will promote positive concepts about manhood, masculinity, and fatherhood. Helping members to understand the importance of responsibility within relationships is key. We encourage self-respect and respect for others from our participants. We will develop strategies tailored to facilitating the growth of students in each aspect of their lives. Students will learn more about themselves and craft goals centered around personal improvement.

Requirements To Join

In order to be a member of the Wise Guys program, you will need to be a male student between the ages of 14 and 17 years old. Youth must also be members of the Youth Enrichment Center. Meetings occur once a week and attendance will be mandatory. If a member is unable to attend a meeting that week, they must provide staff with advance notice.
